Hello friends (and others)-
Thanks again to those who bought the “new” record. It came out just two months ago, but seems like years. Of course, we’d been living with it for MONTHS before we invited you over, and while we are still quite happy with it, I am sure I don’t have to explain to you that sometimes houseguests can stay a bit too long after you’ve moved on.
We are still hoping that Joe will do a bit of touring in the fall, and will certainly keep you posted on that, but in the meantime, I have an update that will be of interest only to 6.7% of you – or maybe 7% if we count the people who like to vacation in New England or Upstate New York. Joe is doing a couple of small shows in private spaces in July, and tickets are on sale now.
Friday, July 19, Ready Mix Design + Letterpress, Troy, NY
Saturday, July 20, 7:30 p.m., A Barn in Falls Village, CT
Sunday, July 21, Roots Hoot House Concert, Peace Dale, RI
If you live in New England or upstate New York and would consider hosting something Thursday, July 18, or even Wednesday, July 17, please be in touch. I can be reached at joyce@ashmontrecords.com. We would definitely be interested in adding one or two.
We’d also consider heading out for a few in August, anywhere within a few hundred miles of Toronto.
In the meantime, for the rest of you, Joe is working on a Substack post for tomorrow, but he is being mysterious about which song. If you’re not already on his list, you can subscribe here.
We do appreciate you, and hope you are having a great summer so far. Joe’s been doing a LOT of bike riding and also some writing and recording. He’s getting ready for his annual Cape Cod trip where he will post his annual photo on his Instagram. See below.
Note that the alt text that comes up for this says “A person with a beard, white hat, and missing teeth.” I would have gone with “A person with a beard, white hat, and rocks in his head.” As for me, I’ve been to the beach a couple of times, plus a few Red Sox games, and have had fried clams once so far. Oh, and I met Billie Jean King. I think Joe was jealous. Winning!
That’s it for now. Take care of yourselves and each other.
Yours,
Joyce in Dorchester, longtime caller, first time listener
I like to vacation in New England and Upstate New York!
Bad news Joyce. July 19 is a Friday.
